Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween, fellow ghoulies and goblins! For many of us, the festivities took place this past Saturday, but the true Day of the Dead is upon us. And in proper Halloween fasion, I will be making Jackolanterns this evening while watching "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and passing out candy to the kiddies in the neighborhood. Most importantly, I'll also be watching "Most Haunted Live 2006"!!

This is the 21st live edition of the popular U.K. television program and tonight's finale will conclude 3 nights of live broadcasting from various sites in Europe's most haunted city, Edinburgh, Scotland.

And my budding psychic abilities are telling that it's going to be the best one yet...

Sadly though, my hero and psychic mentor, Derek Acorah, will not be part of this year's investigations. As I mentioned before, his superior psychic intellect has allowed him to move to his very own program, "Ghost Towns Live". Some may want you to believe that the controversy over Derek's abilities which surfaced last year the day before the 2005 edition of Most Haunted Live is the reason why Derek is no longer on the program. These very same people also want you to believe that Derek is a fake, but I can whole-heartedly tell you that this is just not true. How do I know this? Well... I'll just say that George W. Bush gets his information from God.... and I get mine from Derek and his spirit guide, Sam, in much the same way.

Paranormal activity, ghosts, spirits and psychics are all very real, and nothing will convince me otherwise. If you don't believe me, go visit the Top 10 Most Haunted Possessions of all time EVER... then tell me you don't believe.

Also, check out the Most Haunted Live 2006 site for information on tonight's finale where you can access 4 different live webcams as the show is in progress. These cams are vital because if you happen to see a spirit entity or anything astral, you can immediately  post a warning on the site or text message the Most Haunted Team directly. You can even fax in your psychic drawings.

Over the past two evenings, viewers have been incredibly helpful in warning the Team of ominous and predatorial entities that could have inflicted harm on the them. This is important work, people and the Most Haunted Team is giving you the opportunity to contribute. I have personally been tracking the presence of a very nasty terrorist ghost that is working it's way to Yvette... and I plan on reporting it this evening.

So please enjoy the show this evening and have a safe and happy Halloween! And remember, don't ever use a Ouija Board alone.

Lynne Cheney: Feminist & Gay Activist

I'm so incredibly numb and bored with Republican hypocrisy I've tried my best to ignore news and politics lately. This is no easy task, especially when monstrous she-trolls like Lynne Cheney make headlines.

It seems that the Virginia senatorial race prompted up a cat fight when Republican George "Macacca" Allen accused Webb's recent work of fiction as being demeaning of women. Webb fired back by bringing up the lesbian sex scenes in Lynne Cheney's 25-year-old book "Sisters".

Yeah. That Lynned Chene. Vice President Dick Cheney's wife. The one that got all bent out of shape when John Kerry mentioned her lesbian daughter - Mary - in one of the 2004 Presidential debates.

I guess talk about Lesbianism is only appropriate when there's capitalize on it and not when it can be seen as hurtful to your political party of choice.

She did her best to ignore the exsistence of "Sisters" during the Presidential campaign, and her publishers strangely didn't even want to start it's distribution again.
But copies have recently popped up again on Amazon.com after being mentioned by Webb and the fact that she's promoting her new children's book.

Cheney claims that "Sisters" wasn't sexually explicit. But why then would she do her best to ignore it during the 2004 campaign if it's so innocent?

If you want to check out the hot, steamy girl-on-girl action, but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to acquire a copy on Amazon, just head over to WhiteHouse.org.

Halloween

All the big Halloween parties are tomorrow night, and I just only agreed to participate yesterday evening. I have no idea what to do for a costume. But I have several ideas:
  1. A Cowboy. Yeah I know... it's lame and incredibly typical of a gay man. But most gay men have plenty of cowboy drag hangin around, so what the hay?
  2. Steve Irwin. Yep... incredibly distasteful, but South Park beat me to the chase.
  3. Mark Foley. I just bought a new black suit, and I have several pastel ties and shirts, but would anyone get it without having to explain?
  4. Chewbacca. The bears at Pistons (where I will be celebrating) will dig it.
  5. A Priest. This idea is more for Larry because if I'm Mark Foley, then he can be the handsy priest that molested him.
  6. Britney Spears. I'm fat enough. All I need is a pillow or something to make me look pregnant.
  7. Rush Limbaugh. I figure all I need is a bottle of Vicodin, a bottle of Oxycontin, a bottle of Viagra, and lots of insults.
  8. Mel Gibson. Well... I already be drunk. I'll just need brush up on my anti-semetism.
  9. A Woman. Even straight men are doing it now. Boys will be girls...
  10. Osama Bin Laden. I won't even have to show up to the party to pull this one off.

Once Again, DJ Bill Coons

The blog has suffered lately, and for the two or three of you who read it, I apologize. But I've been busy! Work has ramped up, and my evenings have been spent buried inside a set of headphones.

As I've mentioned before, I used to be a DJ. I played in gay and straight clubs all over St. Louis with an occasional gig outside the area. House, Tech House and Tribal were my passions, but it took 12 years of DJing in St. Louis to realize that the audience for that type of music wasn't very large there. So, that reason paired with a new nine-to-five design job started to erode my desire to play records.

I'd always had a problem with focusing on one path in my life, so when a web design position presented itself, it seemed like a better life choice than stumbling out of an East St. Louis club at 7am after playing records all night. The design industry has it's share of bitchy queens, but I would only have to deal only with their hangovers versus their late night, drunken, meth-induced requests like "Ummm... could you, like, play something that I can dance to?"

My transition out of DJing wasn't quick though. It lasted about a year and included several periods of second thoughts, and offers that I couldn't pass up. I spent the majority of my career begging for gigs, but the moment I decide to end it, the club owners started coming to me. Irony can be a real bitch.

My passion had also start waining because my interests had shifted a bit. Over the years I had accumulated quite the collection of drum machines, samplers and synth modules and became really interested in electronic music production. I worked on a lot of stuff, made my own loops to use at the clubs, and acquired a lot of MIDI sequencing knowledge.

At that point, other than all of the bulky outboard equipment, sequencing with a computer made things really easy. But computers weren't quite fast enough to handle MIDI and audio loops at the same time. It was incredibly expensive though, and like a record junkie who is eventually forced to either purge himself of precious vinyl or store it somewhere, I packed up my equipment and decided to focus on web design for a while.

Then, Larry got a job offer in California. So, like aforementioned record junkie, I sold my turntables, mixing equipment and over 1200 pieces of vinyl and moved to SoCal. All of my drum machines and synths are still packed up in the garage, but I don't really need them anymore.

I always told myself that If I could ever create a track with one single computer instead of 20 pieces of bulky equipment, I would start thinking about DJing and producing again.

Well, that time is here... and that's what I've been doing for the past couple of weeks with Sony Acid on my tiny little laptop. I'll get into all the specifics in a later post, but basically, I've been working on a new mix with a couple of original tracks thrown in. So as a little preview, here is one of those originals. It's a 'rough draft', the file is kinda big and hasn't been fully EQ'd... but please let me know what you think:

Mind Lock

I'm Bloggin Right Now. Can You Take A Message?

Ever since I've started this blog thang, I catch myself on multiple occasions of every day tucking away random thoughts and ideas for the sake of the almighty blog. Whether it be a cool pic taken with my camera phone, a random yet brilliant philosophical rambling from my own mind, or a scathing break-up conversation 'overheard' at Starbuck's, I'm always on the lookout for new material. And occasionally, good ideas reveal themselves during work hours.

PhilTube has got the goods on the bloggin addiction. I'm just wondering how long before Websense will start blocking Blogger or any of the other blogging sites at my job...
